Mind Expanding Movie Night!

My must watch feel good (and thought provoking) movies!

If you find yourself with some chill time, there are some great movies out there that expand our minds, teach us more about the Universe and leave us feeling more peaceful and inspired.

These are my Top Ten Uplifting Movies (in no particular order):

1. Inner Worlds Outer Worlds

"There is one vibratory field that connects all things. It has been called Akasha, Logos, the primordial OM, the music of the spheres, the Higgs field, dark energy, and a thousand other names throughout history...". I've watched this movie about five times and it never fails to make me feel peaceful and amazed.

2. Awake: The Life of Yogananda

A biopic about Yogananda, a much-beloved Indian yogi and guru who introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga, that tells the story of his life and influence on yoga, religion and science. A lovely movie about this wonderful man.

3. The Celestine Prophecy

Based on James Redfield's best-selling novel of the same name, The Celestine Prophecy is a spiritual adventure film chronicling the discovery of ancient scrolls in the rainforests of Peru. The prophecy and its nine key insights predict a worldwide awakening, arising within all religious traditions, that moves humanity toward a deeper experience of spirituality.

4. What the Bleep do we know?

This ground-breaking movie-cum-documentary takes viewers on a journey to unlock the secrets of life. Follow Amanda, a divorced, middle-aged woman who is thrust into a world where science and spirituality converge. As her entire concept of reality is challenged, yours will be too!

5. The Connected Universe

This fascinating journey of exploration of the connection of all things in the Universe is narrated by the legendary Sir Patrick Stewart. This is much-loved by me - I've watched it over and over!

6. Eat Pray Love!

Based on the best-seller by Liz Gilbert. Realising that everything she had in life was not making her happy, Liz Gilbert (played by Julia Roberts) embarks on a quest of self-discovery that takes her to Italy, India and Bali. It is a beautiful story that prompts me to notice and appreciate the little things that I sometimes tend to take for granted in life.

7. The Way

An American father travels to Spain to claim the body of his estranged son, who was killed walking the the "El camino de Santiago," and decides to take the pilgrimage himself. This is a heartfelt, spirited and wonderfully engaging movie that is deeply moving, funny and absolutely gorgeous in its craft and use of scenery.

8. Life of Pi

A spiritual odyssey as well as a tale of survival at sea, At first, the story seems so simple. The spectacular beauty of the sea and sky make this a joy to watch, and the spiritual themes of God and hope make this a “must” for this list.

9. Cloud Atlas

From the directors of the Matrix and packed full of Hollywood A-listers, this movie contains tons of unpredictable plot twists and turns and delves deeply into reincarnation, soulmates, and past lives as it follows interlocking lives lived over hundreds of years.

10. The Shift by Dr Wayne Dyer

How and why to make the move from ambition to meaning. It's a shift eliminates our feelings of separateness and illuminates our spiritual connectedness. We make a commitment to living a life based on experiencing meaning and feeling purposeful, rather than never-ending demands and false promises that are the trademark of the ego's agenda.
